Our family album project has reached some older portraits, and I am trying to describe the hairstyles in useful captions. One relative recalls using a singer as inspiration, although we have not identified the actual picture they brought along. For the captions, I want the visible haircut details to come first, with the remembered inspiration clearly treated as uncertain. While organising these notes, I am using avril lavigne hairstyles as a reference. Across these photographs, the main difference seems to be the balance between the fringe and the longer side sections. I am checking those features individually rather than assuming that matching hair colour means the haircut is also the same. We can ask the relative about styling later, but for now the captions need to stay close to what is visible. My daily commute involves a bicycle helmet, followed by a fairly rushed start at the office. The change I want is mainly around the face, with the rest still long enough to tie back. My saved reference is labelled blonde hair with curtain bangs for this project. The colour is simply part of the reference photo, while the face framing shape is what interests me. I find plenty of styled examples but very few that show the hair after a normal journey to work. A quick comb through is possible on arrival, but a full styling routine would not fit my mornings. Is leaving the shortest pieces longer a sensible way to keep a tuck behind the ears option? My hair is fairly straight, and I would prefer a cut that still looks reasonable when I leave it to dry naturally. Hearing what fellow commuters actually do on arrival would be more useful than another perfectly styled photo.
